Mudslides are a delicious treat, suitable for any time of year, or day for that matter. The best thing about them is that they’re basically a liquid, drinkable dessert. The Mudslide cocktail is similar to a White Russian, but with Irish cream instead of regular dairy cream. They’re made with equal parts of coffee liqueur, vodka and Irish cream. Essentially, they’re nothing but alcohol, which makes for a stiff drink. But, given that they’re so delicious, they don’t seem to have any bite to them. You’re definitely going to want more than one, but you might want to limit how many you drink in one sitting. Here is a list of the best Mudslide cocktails.
Mudslide
This is the basic recipe, similar to the original. It’s pretty “no- frills”, as far as recipes go, but that makes it easy and quick to prepare.
Ingredients
- 1 oz. Vodka
- 1 oz. Coffee liqueur
- 1 oz. Irish cream liqueur
Directions
- In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add all ingredients
- Shake well, until chilled
- Strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice
- Serve
Frozen Mudslide
This recipe is great because it takes the original mudslide recipe and turns it into something close to a mocha frappuccino. The chocolate syrup adds more sweetness, and the whipped cream creates even more decadence, making it seem more like a frozen treat than a cocktail. Pro tip: you can drizzle more chocolate syrup in the glass before you pour the drink in it, and drizzle some over the whipped cream.
Ingredients
- 4 c. crushed ice
- 5 oz. Vodka
- 5 oz. Coffee flavored liqueur
- 5 oz. Irish cream liqueur
- 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
- 1/2 c. whipped cream
Directions
- Add the first four ingredients in a blender
- Drizzle in chocolate syrup
- Blend until smooth
- Pour into glasses
- Top with whipped cream
Oreo Mudslide
This recipe is great for solo indulgence, or parties. It takes the original Mudslide recipe and adds a cookies and cream twist to it. And who doesn’t love cookies and cream?
Ingredients
- 1 oz. Vodka
- 1 oz. Kahlua
- 1 oz. Bailey’s Irish cream
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1 Oreo cookie
- Whipped cream and cherry (garnish)
Directions
- Add all ingredients to a blender
- Blend until smooth
- Pour into a large glass
- Garnish with whipped cream and a cherry
- Serve
Raspberry Kahlua Mudslide
This recipe is great because it’s so easy to make. The addition of Chambord raspberry liqueur gives it an extra zip of fruity flavor that’s unexpected. Just be careful because it also adds to the alcohol content of the drink, and you really won’t notice it.
Ingredients
- 1 oz. Kahlua
- 1 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 1 oz. Vodka
- 1 oz. Chambord raspberry liqueur
- 3 oz. Milk
Directions
- Fill a glass with ice
- Pour all ingredients over ice
- Stir
- Serve
Peppermint Mocha Mudslide
This is a great drink for the holidays. Peppermint is always a festive addition to any drink made during the cold winter months. It’s also great for anyone, like me, who enjoys chocolate-peppermint anything.
Ingredients
- 4 oz. Cream
- 2 oz. Vodka
- 1 oz. Bailey’s Irish cream
- 1 oz. Kahlua
- 1 oz. Peppermint Schnapps
- Chocolate syrup and mint leaves (garnish)

- In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add all ingredients except garnish
- Shake until chilled
- Strain into glasses filled with ice
- Garnish with chocolate syrup and mint leaves
- Serve
Nutella Mudslide
What’s better than a dessert cocktail? A dessert cocktail made with Nutella, of course! This yummy drink is not only made with Nutella, but Frangelico, which is a type of hazelnut liqueur. So, it has a lot of nutty flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon Nutella
- 2 oz. Half and half
- 2 oz. Bailey’s Irish cream
- 2 oz. Frangelico liqueur
Directions
- Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice
- Shake until chilled
- Pour into glass
- Serve
Mississippi Mudslide Cocktails
The Mississippi Mudslide cocktail is an interesting twist on the Mudslide. Rather than using vodka, Jim Beam Red Stag Black Cherry is used in it’s place. This gives the drink a bit of a fruity flavor, and for even more you can top it with whipped cream and a cherry.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz. Coffee liqueur
- 1 1/2 oz. Jim Beam Red Stag Black Cherry
- 1 1/2 oz. Irish Cream
Directions
- Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice
- Shake until chilled
- Strain into glass filled with ice
- Serve
Strawberry Mudslide Shake
This is actually more like enjoying two milkshakes at once. One is strawberry with Irish cream, and the other is vanilla that’s infused with vodka and Kahlua. The result is one awesome boozy milkshake that would be excellent on its own or with dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 oz. Kahlua
- 1 oz. Vanilla vodka
- 1 oz. Bailey’s Irish cream
- 5 strawberries, hulled
- 1 scoop vanilla ice cream
Directions
- Put strawberries and Bailey’s into blender
- Blend until smooth
- Pour into bottom of martini glass
- Rinse out blender
- Put Kahlua, vodka and ice cream in blender
- Blend until smooth
- Pour ice cream mixture over strawberry mixture
- Top with an additional scoop of ice cream
- Garnish with strawberry
- Serve
Kahlua Eggnog Mudslide
This is a festive holiday cocktail that would be a hit at parties. It’s like a boozy eggnog shake, and even those that aren’t particularly fond of eggnog will find something about this drink to love.
Ingredients
- 1 c. eggnog
- 1 oz. Coconut rum
- 1 oz. Kahlua
- Whipped cream and a dash of cinnamon (garnish)
Directions
- Stir together all ingredients (except garnish)
- Pour into glass
- Add whipped cream and cinnamon to garnish
